Philips SalonStraight Active Ion Straightener HP8315 Review

As you all (Readers) know that I own Solia ceramic Flat Iron but I messed it up. It was my mistake of connecting my Solia Iron to high volts current which made it never wake up again I mean it stopped working. I really loved it 😦 but mistakes happen and I moved on.. Now it was time for a new flat-iron but this time I was tight on budget and was looking for cheaper flat-iron which I can afford. After researching in internet I made my mind to go and buy Philips SalonStraight Active Ion straightener HP8315 which was affordable and looked pretty good. So I ordered one and got it.

The packaging was good. My straightener was in box along with user manual and warranty slip. Unlike Solia I didn’t get a heat proof pouch which is very useful but it was not a big deal because I already had it and I can use it for new Iron.

Philips HP8315 Straightener

Philips HP8315 looks really pretty with purple design in black background color which I liked the most. Unlike Solia which disappointed me as it looked as a recycled product, Philips looked brand new.

Compared to Solia it has extra wider plates which uses less time to straight your hair, straightening is really fast with wide plates and has lock/unlock appliance slide which helps to lock your flat-iron plates when not in use. Since Philips HP8315 has Ion conditioning, it activates ions in plates and gives way better shine to your hair than Solia. You can hear the sizzling noise of ions getting activated while using.

Philips flat-iron takes around 20-30 secs to heat up, it has light indicator to show its working and on, but it does not show its heated up and ready to use. It heats up to 210C (410F) and has no temperature settings so you should be very careful while using it as it may burn your hair if you hold on your hair for longer time. It has long cord so easy to handle and also has hanging loop so that you can hang it.

The main reason I purchased Philips was it came with universal voltage since my last flat-iron shut off due to supply of high voltage which I didn’t notice. I think Philips HP8315 would make a best buy for someone looking for cheaper yet affective flat-iron. You can also register your Philips appliance in www.philips.com .

How To Treat Greasy/Oily Hair

Greasy hair is a hair condition which is one of four types of hair conditioning- normal, greasy, dry and greasy dry. It is caused by excess build-up of secretion called sebum from the sebaceous glands in the scalp by the continuous development of natural grease. Greasy hair can look dull and lifeless and may result in sever hair fall so treating it at right time is important. People with this type of hair find difficulties to keep a hair style. People with fine, wavy hair are more prone to greasy hair than with course, curly hair. Hormonal changes is also linked to the development of oily/greasy hair.

Causes

GreasyOily Hair

  • Irregular and inconsistent hair cleansing is most common which holds toxins and dirt, result in formation of greasy hair.
  • Use of unsuitable hair products like deep conditioners, shampoo etc leads to greasy hair.
  • Excessive carbohydrate, fat and starch consumption can increase developing greasy hair.
  • Regular use of hair straighteners and curling irons.
  • Frequent brushing hair which stimulate your scalp/roots which results in rapid flow of oil from roots to strands making it greasy.

Tips On How To Treat

  1. Wash hair frequently to remove dirt, oil/grease and toxins, but do not wash daily instead alternate day work great.
  2. While conditioning use little conditioner and make sure you rinse all the conditioner out.
  3. Avoid touching or brushing your hair as much as possible instead brush only when needed.
  4. Wash hair with warm water and end up washing with cold water to close hair pores.
  5. Avoid using blow driers and hair straightener as much as possible. Do not use them regularly. Air dry is best for all hair types and will not damage hair.
  6. If hair is more greasy then use conditioner only to lower half of your hair and leave your roots conditioner free.
  7. Use hydrating shampoo.
  8. Use mixture of vinegar and water in the ratio 1:10 as a final rinse while rinsing your hair.
  9. Clay Hair masks work great for greasy hair so go for it at least once a month.
  10. Look for the hair products which suits your hair type and those specially made for oily/greasy hair with neutral pH.
  11. If your hair looks oily at top and dry at ends then apply leave-in conditioner to ends.
  12. Give maximum time intervals between hair treatments such as hair dyes, highlights, perms etc.
  13. If you want to remove extra oil from your scalp then leave the shampoo for longer time to absorb the oil and then rinse.
  14. For a quick fix on greasy hair when you need to go out and cannot wash hair, apply little bit of talc/baby powder to scalp and gently brush hair. This will absorbs oil and help to look better. Use this method only in emergency as talc/powder may contain some harmful chemicals which may harm your hair.

Natural And Homemade Conditioners

Are you excited to make your own less expensive, easy to make homemade hair conditioner which is chemical free and will enhance your beautiful hair? Then jump into your kitchen, you will find many items that you can use to make natural beauty products. Here are some methods which will give you great results.

Honey

honey

Take a drop of Honey and 1-2 spoons of olive oil, warm it a bit in microwave and apply to the hair from roots to tip. Let this stand for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with water. Honey is used as lightener, so if u want to keep your hair dark then don’t use this method.

Oils

oil

Oils are great for conditioning your hair. But dealing with oils will consume more time, so this treatment is for the weekends or during your free time. Take half a cup of both coconut oil and tea tree oil mix both of them and warm a bit. Using your finger tips massage your scalp and leave it for 3-4 hours. Later rinse with water and mild or baby shampoo.

Fruit mask

Banana

Pick a ripe banana, 1-2 strawberries and puree/mash them. To this add few drops of olive oil and honey. Apply this paste to your hair and leave for 15-20 minutes and then rinse nicely with water without leaving any residue.

Green tea

Boil a cup of green tea. Let it cool then apply it by pouring on to your hair, or by spraying from a spray bottle to hair. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes then rinse. You will get a very pleasant green tea scent in addition.

Banana

Banana-honey

Mash or puree banana, and add few drops of honey mix it well. Apply this to your hair and let it stand for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with water.

Deep oil conditioning

olive oil

Take a cup of coconut/olive oil which ever suits you, add in some rosemary and warm it a bit in microwave or using double boiler. When oil is lukewarm, strain the rosemary and apply the oil throughout the head with your finger tips. Massage the scalp and cover the tips so that it will repair the split ends. After application cover your head with hot towel and let it stand for 30-40 minutes. Finally rinse with water and mild shampoo.

Vinegar
